We were east west on this hand and missed some spade tricks in defense, assuming opening lead of 3H, how should we defend this to get the spade tricks

the play went
E - S - W - N -
3H 2H 7H TH
2C QC 6C 2C
KC JC KC 8C
3S KS AS 4S
7S 5H QS 5S
JS 4C TS 8S
7D 4D 2D AD
AH 6H 3D JH
4H 8H 5D QH
9H 5C TD KH
8D QD 6S 6D
JD 9D TS KD
9C TC AC 9S

1. Why didn't West bid 2S?
2. Why didn't East win KC at trick 2 and play a spade

You know that North has all the hearts and West has five spades yes?

If not just stop after trick one, what do you know?

I was west, I didn't bid 2S because of weak diamonds and vul - we play cappalletti. East won KC at trick three and played 3S - should I be able to assume that promises the jack because it's the lowest spade - then instead of QS I could play a low spade after winning AS.

Did you have a better plan?

How many spades do you think partner has?

Declarer?

Even if you play QS and low spade you still have Ace of clubs entry

Partner with three low spades might lead highest spade first..
