I would like to have a control that I can enable when creating a casual table that would attempt to somewhat even out the high card points dealt to each team over a the entire table session. One way to accomplish it is this:
- keep track of the cumulative total high card points dealt to each team.
- at each deal, before giving the cards to the players, see which team is going to get the higher number of high card points on the new hand. If the team with the higher cumulative high card points would also get the better deal on this next hand, then rotate the hands so that the other team (lower cumulative points team) gets the better cards on the new hand.
Of course there are other ways to try to prevent a lopsided distribution of points over many hands, and the algorithm I suggested is just one possibility.
I usually play casual games with Total Points as the scoring method. The dealing control I proposed would not make sense for some other types of scoring.
