I had 1.5 hours this morning to spend on bridge, I logged in at BBO and saw in 6 mins a BBO land indy was coming up. I signed in, and the starting time was postponed. I asked the TD, Bebas, how often he was to postpone the starting time. He responded: starting time 10.45. as always. At that moment it was 10.38, and the announced starting time was 3 mins. Not surprisingly, a few minutes later the starting time was again 3 mins. I unsubscribed.
This is a very regular feature in payed tournaments and it drives me crazy. The directors planning this to lure players to their tournaments, are cheating with the time of their players. I should like it very much if something was done to stop this fooling around with starting times.

I suspect they do this because lots of players wait until the last minute to sign up. Others who arrive earlier see very few people signed up, so they don't sign up either.

I find the ever changing start times a total joke. I don't mind the occassional delay of a minute or two. Even a single five minute delay while some huge tourney finishes occassionally. But there are several directors who post a start time and then change it then change it then change then change it... every single time they run a tourney. Starting today, I will bail out on any pay tourney that routinely changes it start time. I just withdrew from one today because of this.

I have done exactly the same several times - withdrewn because of these endless postponements. It seems as if the pay-tourney TDs would be better - and richer - off just sticking to the schedule

i said this in another thread but i'll say it again here... i think the if a tourney is scheduled for a certain time it should start *exactly* at that time, even if it has to be a software feature... i guarantee that pretty soon all those who are used to waiting, knowing it'll be postponed, will stop
