I'm already confused. Am I you or your LHO and if the latter did I really pass? B-)

--looking again seem LHO open a forcing pas X+ HCP if it was spread its 15+ point
then 3 show single suit club with 10+ point
1=3=2=7 ..or 1=2=3=7

Hamman's Rule is a well-known bridge maxim: "If you have a choice of bids and one of the options is 3NT, bid 3NT."

You are my LHO. Your LHO (my partner) starts with pass, your partner passes, I open 3 on your right, your turn.

You are East.

Thanks.
In that case I too reluctantly bid 3NT.
Could easily be wrong, preempts work.

This is the full deal. Our opponents got into a mess.

This went two down for the only plus score our way. Hamman's rule works well here, 3NT makes nine tricks double dummy (although two pairs made 11 tricks). 4 is also there though difficult to bid.

I think you make 11 in NT unless a club is led as you have time to knock out S's 2 cards then squeeze N in hearts and clubs, although the timing is a bit awkward.

Note the winning (but I suspect not best) action is to pass the double and find the club ruff for +500

4 would not make my Top 2 selection over a Double. If East is choosing Double here (as opposed to 3NT) then they are treating their hand as strong and flexible and should continue with 4 over 4. Having dodged the bullet of a 4 advance, East can feel pretty good about the resulting auction.

Does anyone play 3 (and/or 3NT) as conventional here and if so, how does it work?
