The robots' bidding system doesn't include puppet
Stayman over 2NT openings. This leads to some less than optimal bidding when you are dealt 20-21 high card points with a five card major. The robot system includes Smolen and it should also include puppet Stayman.

There are other issues with what the robots do such as jumping to 7 without checking for controls but that's another topic.

Puppet Stayman is not in the top 2 or 3 thousand things about GIB bidding that needs to be changed. I will note that many club and even tournament partnerships do not play Puppet Stayman even though they open NT with 5 card majors.

Jumping to the 7 level, usually with absolutely no play is one of GIB's endearing features, as long as that GIB isn't your partner. Another endearing GIB feature is taking a preference with a void instead of 5 or 6 card support for one of partner's suits, or passing 1000% forcing bids. Some people might even say that fixing these idiosyncrasies is slightly more important than adding Puppet Stayman but I could be wrong.

Empirically, in the sequence 1NT-P-2 - where 1NT is South and the North GIB bids Stayman even if it is a passed hand, it is promising 8+ - usually 9+ points.
If you respond 3M GIB will take that to mean a 5 card suit and bid 4M with 3 in that suit.

7 of anything is a great contract. It scores very well. GIB likes high scores. This is an excellent feature.

My comment about puppet Stayman concerned 3C over 2N and not 2C over 1NT. Opening 1NT with a 5 card major is a matter of preference, style and risk tolerance. 2NT openings are a different situation. There are quite a few instances where opening 2N with a 5-3-3-2 is considerably safer when playing puppet Stayman than opening 2C with 20-21 points and opening 1 of a suit with that 20-21 points has its own issues such as having your 1 bid passed out or over-called leaving you without a reasonable second bid. That said, I do not wish to prolong the discussion and do not plan to reply further.

It's not that they didn't understand (mostly) or weren't taking you seriously, but rather that you are beating a dead horse.
There have been no real improvements to GIB in years and the system is clearly an outdated mess.

There's essentially no way to play both Smolen and Puppet Stayman over a 2NT opening. GIB chose Smolen, and we have but to live with it.

We yield to our robot overlords. GIB threatened to send a Terminator if we didn't go along with its choice.
