I created a tournament of 12 boards IMP pairs, 4 rounds.

Well before the tournament started I went into table and uploaded my LIN file.

The LIN file was created in BBO by taking a .dup file from DealMasterPro and then opening it in netbridgevu.exe (just like you would for vugraph). This process puts a file called vugraph.lin in your C:/bridge base online folder.

When I loaded the hands, I got a message that 24 hands had been loaded.

When the tournament was underway, board 1 turned out to be identical to board 2 so I had to abort the tournament.

I then logged in as a vugraph operator (invisible) and started a dummy vugraph show with exactly the same file and it was OK with just the 12 hands. I also tried loading the same file to a teaching table, and again everything was OK.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Well a vugraph session has each board at both tables, so i guess your 12 boards have to be copyed to show both tables.

Can't you simply save the the deals in a lin file (instead of using the vugraph file)?

Or perhaps load the lin file you have to a teaching table perhaps you can delete the doubled deals there.

Yes.
That method has the hands duplicated, one for Open Room, one for Closed.
Just open the vugraph.lin using "Movie" in the lobby, and save it (maybe with another name). Hands in this new file should not be duplicated.

I suspect the file created has 2 lines in it for every deal.
Removing the duplicate entries with and editor would be one way to solve this.

Have a look at

Bridge File Converter from section Bridge Utilities works simply and correctly.
