Please excuse if this has been asked before, at a casual table, is it possible to change partners/positions without starting over (exiting from table)?

Click on your own name in the seating diagram at the table. You will be asked if you wish to leave this seat. If you accept you will become a kibitzer at the table.
The Beer Card

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades

The table host can change the table options to "Permission required to play". Then he can leave his seat, and you can click on it. The table host will approve your request to sit there.
