I had exactly this problem - BBO dropping me from tournaments every 20-30mins and no other internet issues.

I am using a DLink Powerline Adapter from my router to my PC and this seemed to have a role in the problem, because if I used a long Ethernet cable instead, it was fine.

To solve it I had to use a script that starts on my PC at login and pings the router continually.

Of course I have no idea why this works, or why it only affects BBO.

I played 2 sessions of 2 hours and got 0 deconnection, running with Linux : ping -v 192.168.1.254 (my server address). Maybe it is a solution? Could such a request be added to the BBO software?

I'm pretty sure it's not possible for a browser application to do this.

It's also quite unusual that you need to do this in the first place, I doubt it would be a useful addition even if we could.

admin reply is very shocking and ignorant of their end users.

A lot of users do not complain, just get on with. They are use to :-

1. As BBO is starting the tournament the player has to click and move between different tabs to wave at BBO - look i'm here please do not drop me
2. BBO dropping their internet connection. The TD then will make sure they get re-seated as soon as BBO picks up their connection again. They may have to log in and and out to get BBo attention again. This can happen several times a session.

All because these folks are either using 4G or have 2nd rate home internet with contention and occasionally longer than latency than the BBO servers tolerance!

All you testing is obviously in a lab with lightly loaded networks. Try it in the real world in less than ideal internet connections!

Be careful when you make adlib comments !

Now we have new features like voice and video. May i be so bold as to suggest to get the main part working first! Also allow a separate CSV file of handicaps to be apply to the results for mix ability clubs

BBO doesn't have a "lab with lightly loaded networks". Most of us work from home, we're just using our home Internet connections.

Since the last updates I have difficulties reading BBO mail in the morning hours (central Europe, Greenwich +2).
Playing is fine, but mail and profiles load _very_ slowly or not at all.
The mail rectangle appears, but without text, and even the symbols (close, delete, open in new window) don't show up, same with the BBO point symbol in profiles.

It looks like the routing to that server is still sleeping :) Later in the day everything works as expected.

Can you clarify, please? Are you saying you have a separate window open in which you frequently ping your router? That will have no affect on the BBO connection, which is contacting the ISP IP address. The address you quote is just the local interconnection.

We have a friend in another country who is able to maintain live video communication with us (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) without problems so clearly has a consistent connection, but she gets kicked out of BridgeBase constantly. We have to put her back in her seat sometimes as often as ten times PER HAND, which makes playing difficult. We love BridgeBase but it seems, based on others' comments and BridgeBase feedback, that there's no solution for this -- does anyone know of an alternative bridge app that we could use just while we are playing with her?

I observe the same problem. Actually I have never had ten times per hand from memory but multiple times per session is normal.

I typically practice at a bidding table while talking through an online service to my partner, usually just voice but occasionally with video with some partners or students.

My voice chat or video is continuous but I get disconnected from BBO. It is very annoying when I am hosting the table with prepared hands as I have to redeal every hand singly to get to the next hand after I restore my BBO connection by logging in.

I experience this most times when I practice. Last Thursday I had two practice sessions. Unusually one session went without hitch and I bid hands for about 2.5 hours without interruption. Later the same day I had another practice session with a different partner and I had multiple disconnects.

Given other apps are working without interruption simultaneously it really seems this is a BBO issue.

I don't have a particularly fast or fancy connection and am on the opposite side of the world, yet never get disconnected.

So it's definitely not *just* a BBO issue - it will be a combination of an issue with your connection, along with the way BBO needs to work compared to other apps (this type of server uses a very different connection type to that of video streaming).

I have a macbook air with M1 chip.
BBO disconnects regularly when I am not plugged into power.
If I am connected to power, not so.

this does not happen with any other app.

It's the chrome browser (I think)

I just ran a 10 minute test using firefox and it didn't happen.

Maybe that's it?

We're not sure what's going on here. We haven't been able to reproduce this ourselves, and our understanding is that Safari isn't supposed to throttle inactive tabs if they use WebSockets, which is how our app communicates with the server. If it happens again, can you let us know the time so we can check our server logs?

2.5 years later, but I remembered you saying that when I happened to come across this thread today:

https://github.com/s....io/issues/2924

which was about how Safari *did* sporadically drop WebSocket connections when the page wasn't in focus, and a fix was put in place in SocketIO late last year. Might be of interest..

Last night at 19:30 BST I was connected on a desktop, using wifi, and a laptop(Windows 10) using ethernet through the same router but different logins. The desktop(Windows 7) was the TD.

I entered my Tourney, on the laptop, and successfully invited my partner on the laptop. Whilst waiting for others to register I got multiple connection lost. The desktop did not have this problem. I restarted my laptop and logged in but when I got to my Tourney I got Connection Lost repeatedly. I could not invite my partner.
My new partner was also suffering from Connection Lost when trying to access my Tourney.

Now if I am using the same router, my speeds are greater than 30mbps, can somebody explain why 1 session (desktop) maintains contact and the laptop suffers repeated Connection Lost? Any help or advice would be welcome but overall the evening was ruined!

The past two times I've played using the same Mac I've been using for a year and I've lost connection frequently. I work from home and spend all day on a PC. I'm on Zoom calls all day. I never lose connection. I googled Bridgebase frequently lost connection and this forum came up. Clearly there is an issue here and I don't buy that it's my internet. I also stream my TV. I don't lose connection there either. I watched tv (Hulu) on my Mac all the time, including last night and it didn't buffer or lose connection. Someone from Bridgebase should get to the bottom of this.

HI I have been having disconnection problem. I have fiber cable connection to my desktop. I took my computer to technician who uninstalled and installed Windows 10 and also put exclution on Firewall for BBO since BBO recomended that. But nothing helped. And since this happens only on BBO site, then a computer specialist has said it's the Bridgebase software . They must have some bugthat causes the connection to drop. It's on their said, so there isn't much you can do. Just check the forum and see if anybody has found a workaround.
Please let me know if anyone found it. MY email is nancyhinne@gmail.com I am desperate, please help!!!
