Am watching the vugraph and think it would be nice in "big deal" mode to see photos of the players next to their names. Not exactly sure of the psychological reason why, but it would be nice :)

Would also be nice for BBO members to be allowed to choose their own picture/avatar, this would aid recognition and I suspect it would lead to friendlier games. Somehow I feel more at ease playing v. a pic/avatar, it makes my partner/opponent seem more "real".

The downside (particularly for the latter) is the amount of moderation required. Given that this is only a "frilly" idea it probably won't be implemented for some time.

OKB has pictures along with the names and the vast majority of people didn't use a picture of themselves. I used the anarchy symbol for my picture. You're right though...it does bring up the issue of offensive content. OKB had a few problems with that as well...some well-endowed women were proving it to the world.

I like the idea of having tiny windows with people's webcams in it but this would only really work in an all-broadband world. Intel making a big push for WiMAX so we may all soon have it.

No problem if they don't post a picture of themselves. A picture of a rabbit or Britney Spears or David Beckham etc. somehow makes me feel like I know them better and that they are more real.

I agree. The picture would tell much about the attitude of the player. I mean, sometimes I could avoid making a stupid (or even worse, offensive) joke if i saw by the picture that opps have no sense of humor
Loosing is not at all so hard. I do it all the time.

Unless the pics are selected from a predefined list or there is a moderation process associated with each new pic, some of the pics would be abusive.

I dont think this will happen anytime soon unless there is a lot more interest in this than we've seen
