3Cx might even have made but tough to pass with 6-5. The 3s?? Please dont tell me 12+ HCP has no upper bound.

With 5 and 6 with a weak hand and no way to show both minors you have a choice.
Overcall 3 and sit or
Overcall 3 and rebid 4 if necessary.
This tactic is common with weak 6-5's at a lower level.

Bidding 3 then 3 shows a strong hand though it shouldn't when escaping. But if partner had responded 3 with a good hand you would have a rebid problem. But in any case partner thinks you have 4 so tries .
Sarcasm is a state of mind

if i have d and s and c, i may have doubled for takeout. I have escaped 3cx into 3d, how can i have spades. and blurbs are saying 12+ hcp consistently. So why this 3S?

Ropey suits vulnerable are a recipe for disaster. You haven't got a sensible rebid if you overcall 3 and partner bids 3s (with a different hand). While the subsequent bidding is GIB's fault, this hand has the warning signs of a misfit when the opponents open 2.

Whilst I'll be quite happy to bid 2NT Unusual red/white over a 1M opening, the 2 opener is limited and can be quite weak. If partner hasn't got enough to balance then the hand is probably not yours.

I know it's difficult to sit silent with 6-5 shape, but the vulnerability is a factor for me, and this is just my opinion. I always believe that if you open/overcall, you should have a rebid available whatever partner says. This hand isn't good enough to 'reverse' with 3 then 4: you wouldn't open 1 then bid 2 as an opener, so why do you want to overstate your values here?
