Pula teams. If partner had doubled 3H it would have asked for a heart lead. What is your lead?

I rank
  • x. Clubs seem a better prospect than s, when you have all the entries,
  • x. Speculative but partner might double 3 for a lead and (assuming that you have that agreement), double 3N for a lead.
  • A, J. Could be right.
  • A. Leaves you well-placed in the post-mortem.
  • Q. A praiseworthy attempt at the Brilliancy prize. Dummy is likely to be short of high cards. If declarer has to run dummy's diamonds, then he may inflict a suicide squeeze on himself.

Club for me as well. It could well concede a trick on the lead but we keep control of both majors which may be enough tempo to establish the clubs.

Partner has made a free bid and has some values. Opponents do not have the HCP for 3NT, so are presumably basing the bid on the hope of running diamonds. I suspect that establishing the clubs might be too slow (if I did lead clubs, it would not be the 4th best club) and I'm tempted to find partners suit. I am leading an ace to give me the option to switch to the other major if that seems right and to avoid blocking the suit (leading the 7 looks very likely to block the spades).

I'm guessing the A

Clubs.

If partner wanted hearts, he could have said so.
With kind regards

A club, or the ace of hearts and a club switch, will work. A spade is fatal.
