A cautionary note re. accommodation costs.
I remember some years ago attending the EBU summer meeting at Brighton. The EBU at the time posted details of a number of possible places to stay. Those who, when booking, admitted to attending the EBU congress were consistently charged HIGHER room rates (wherever they booked) than those who did not admit to any connection. Although I do not think that any blame attached to the EBU for that, it did get a fair amount of stick "by association". It is not hard, from a Landlord's point of view, to come to the conclusion based on market force theory that a higher price can be justified: Those going for a random weekend can go anywhere. Those attending the conference don't have that choice.
I don't suggest that this would happen now, and I expect that sceptic has it covered, but forewarned is forarmed as they say.
