♠ Q10x
♥ KQ109x
♦ Ax
♣ xxx
Not a pretty hand. At favourable it goes:
P - P - 1♥(1) - 3♣(2)
X(3) - P - ?
(1) Worth it for the lead in my opinion
(2) Not asked by partner, but later explained as strong
(3) Playing negative doubles
In actuality RHO bid 4♣ (phew!) and LHO raised to 5 for one off. But it got me thinking. What would I have bid in this circumstance. Any thoughts?

One thing I'm not going to do is rebid hearts. A passed pard's primary obligation is to show a fit if he has one, so 3♥ is going to leave you for sure in a 5-2 fit, which can even be 5-1. Better take your chances pard has 5 spades or a good 4.

My personal view: I don't think anyone should give unsolicited lessons in English in the Forums. Especially not if one thinks that this is proper English:
"We do not have much agreements".

I would open this hand in first or third chair, no problem.
I play an opening bid of 2S shows five spades and four plus clubs or four plus diamonds. And 2D shows six spades. This has important implications on an auction like this... when the bidding goes,
P-P-1M-a minor
X
My partners will never have five or six cards in the other major, and some minor legnth. It is possible for him to have exactly five in the other major in three in the other minor, but even that is rare as a passed hand, he could bid the major and show that exact hand type (if at the two level.. at the three level, it would a fit non-jump). So in this one case (opposite a passed hand), I am very leary of bidding the other major on a three card suit. So here, I would rebid 3♥ or perhpas even a "creative" 3♦. Which raises an interesting question here, what would your partner's 3D bid here show? Diamonds and heart (fit non-jump) or just diamonds? Playing my style, partner 1) lacks support, 2) is willing to make a takout double at the three level, so we can assume he is short in clubs and short in hearts. That gives him at least 9 cards in the spades and diamonds, and he will not have five spades, so he has at least five diamonds. I am actually kind of fond of 3♦ and with one partner specifically, this will surely be my bid, but with the vast majority of partner I would rebid the automtic 3H.
