What is the point of having short suit trials in your system if on a hand such as this responder does not take the trouble to identify the Diamond shortage and stop in 3H?

Personally I prefer to bid the shortage directly over the raise and use the next step over 2H to show a generic game try with no shortage. But I don't insist on it - the benefits of that switch are marginal. But with system as it stands it behoves responder to enquire.

Its not a bad game- it just happened to have all the bad breaks- two less bad ones and the game is OK.

Seriously?? You must lose 2 spades and 1 diamond, regardless of the position of the defense's cards. So, to take 10 tricks you must:

• avoid losing a third spade
  
• avoid losing a heart
  
• avoid losing a second trick in the minors.

The last of these alone requires onside ♦A and ♣K, which is only 24%. Adding the others reduces the probability to under 10%. In what scoring system is this "not a bad game"?

The responding hand is actually excellent for SSGT's. It should accept H or C, but refuse D. But it doesn't even bother to ask, why is that BBO??

Mind you I would not make any sort of GT with the S hand, except perhaps Vul. at IMPS.

It is certainly not worth a GT if responder is just going to punt game or not without enquiring into the location of the shortage.
