55% rebate.

Only scored 5% for this, which was disappointingly unexpected, not because I was in the best contract (I wasn't) but just surprised that there were not more players duplicating it. Not begrudging them. This was hand 12 and I was just above 55% going into it. Ironically I was trying to bid down the middle.

I was a tad heavy for 2C rebid, but not obscenely so. I don't have a GF hand, and if partner can do nothing other than pass 2C I don't expect to make 3N. And if he doesn't pass 2C I get another shout, which I did. The issue is related to insistence on using total points to limit minor suit bids when no fit has been established.

I feel that the 2N rebid over 2C is mis-described. It continues to suggest that I may have only 3 Clubs. I think that if I had values for 2N but only 3 Clubs I would raise 1N to 2N on first rebid. Responder certainly interpreted it as 4+ Clubs, as there is no way that he would want to play in a possible 4-3 Club fit when he has a certain 5-3 Spade fit.

And what about that 5-3 Spade fit? We are informed that GIB distinguishes between MP and IMP scoring in exercising judgement. Scant evidence of that here.

Finally, we are informed that responder has 6-9 total points when bidding 2S. How many values does the 3C bid show? 6-9 total points. I feel that opposite an opener who has shown such a strong hand as is indicated by the 2N bid, we should at least be able to eliminate the maximum holdings from responder when he makes a non-forcing bid in a partscore. As it happens, he had a minimum, which I guessed. But I am not sure whether that the description needs updating or whether he just happened by chance to have a minimum.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

Yes 2 being heavy is often unavoidable in SA and 2/1 it doesn't handle 16-18 pt hands very well without some extra conventions like Gazzilli.

Gibs final bid 3 is silly, in description says 2 well GIB has 3 so clearly should be bidding 3. This probably why your score is so low everyone else is probably in .

This auction is fine up until the 3C call, no doubt GIB should have corrected to Spades.

The range of the auction 2C followed by 2NT is dependent on how often a partnership opens 1NT with a 5 card Major. I do so freely, but with something like xx, AKJTx, xxx, AKx most, including myself, would probably open the major and rebid 2C over 1NT. Those who rarely open 1NT with a 5 card major have to use 2NT on the 3rd round to show their strength.
