For some reason you have arrived in the rather unsound 6♣ (yes, could have been me, since MY slam statistics are pretty poor). West leads ♥J.

Was my decision to bid the slam justified, or will I go down as usual? In other words: do you want to declare or defend?

Double Dummy, I can see, everything is as I need it.

So I would like to play.

Of cause, one could try to squeese East, who holds Q♠ and Q♦ and cannot secure both.

No matter what line of play you want to take, I can't see how this makes. There aren't enough entries to take all the finnesses, and you can't eliminate the spades, and take a club and diamond finesse.

So I'll defend.

Play... win heart queen in dummy, hook club, run clubs. WEST has to keep 3♦ or you can duck a low ♦ from your hand, and win two diamond tricks easily (if he wins king, with one hook, if he ducks by playing the for the drop of his king)... He also has to keep 2 hearts as his partner will be squeezed into keeping 3♦ (or one hook is enough) and 3 spades (or the jack sets up), so his partner can not keep enough hearts. If both throw hearts, this becomes entry squeeze thing where you can overtake heart king and use heart 7 as entry (read Adventures in card play). This forces him down to two ♠.. .then you cash spades, and hearts, ending in dummy and then hook ♦ and WEST is forced to return ♦.

The ending will be...

West can't throw a diamond, or you duck
West can't throw a heart since his partner has to throw a heart (if wEST throws heart, lead and overtake heart king if east throws a heart).. so west plays a spade

After West's spade discard, play AK spade, King ACE of hearts, and lead diamond from dummy, covering EAST diamond card. If west instead throws a diamond, lead diamond Jack from hand -- if WEST wins king, one diamond hook is enough. If west ducks, you can drop king on second round..

Finally, if west throws a heart, he is out of picture, and we turn to east. IF he throws heart, overtake king, take diamond finesssee, win spade return, heart to seven and hook diamonds again. If East throws spade, the spade Jack is good. If east throws diamond, lead low heart to ace, take diamond hook, then diamond ace drops the stiff queen on next round.

I guess this is called a double-entry shifting squeeze. To make it a tad more exciting, swap the ♥7 and ♥6, in which case when you win the heart queen at trick one, you have to "unblock" the heart 7 from hand or you can kiss your slam good bye.
