One of my opponents in a robot tournament today was very lucky indeed when Gib failed to lead its Ace against 7NT doubled in this freak hand:

I'd call that a bug!

I ended up in 7 down two when Gib found the Ace lead against me. For a discussion of the best way to bid this unusual hand, see this thread:

Is the key to get doubled? then ace not lead.

I can't say much about the lead, but I have to give kudos to GIB West for an excellent double.

It is a longstanding problem, long past due fixing.

I am guessing that West expects to take it more down by preserving the Ace. A reasonable policy at the one level.

It has no concept of the premium to be had in ensuring that the contract is defeated. A more complicated issue generally at MP, but not on this hand.

I was sure this was fixed. At least, we've had many more reports of it a while back.

I think folks have just gotten tired of reporting it. It goes way back: http://www.bridgebas...sessing-an-ace/
