GIB doesn't really know about leading long suits vs. NT, it often has tendencies toward passive leads so switching is often more effective. It needs better coding to recognize leads from length, maybe using attitude leads or something. But it really has practically zero understanding about defensive signalling, it is mainly going on the bidding & dummy, it doesn't really integrate knowledge based on partner's carding. They are only really capable of fixing bidding bugs at this point in time (real brains behind GIB abandoned the project over a decade ago, sold off the code to BBO for them to use as the robots), so it's kind of pointless to complain about instances of poor play & defense, unless you think that such play is a result of a bug in the auction.
