I recently had to abandon a hand I was looking forward to bidding and hopefully playing because the host left and his name was stuck there. The message for him to bid came up after several minutes and then repeated over the next few minutes but did not remove him. No-one else can remove a host and eventually I had to just leave the table. Why was the stuck host not removed as other players are?

Table hosts are exempt from the slow player removal system. Call a yellow and ask them to remove the host.
There is a system in place for removing stuck hosts, but it takes about 10 minutes to detect them. It works by periodically scanning for tables where there have been lots of people arriving and leaving, but no one bidding or playing.

Some usernames - our "hosts" - are printed in yellow, and can be accessed directly from the HOSTS tab on the right hand side of your screen.
They're usually friendly fellow players who are willing to give you a hand, or staff.

Host is God.
For the sake of the loss of a single hand (you can always leave a stuck table yourself) I would be reluctant to tinker with the powers of God.

Maybe hosts should be removable by unanimous vote of the other three players.

Turns out I'm behind the times -- that script was shut down when we implemented the new slow player boot.
So now I'm not sure why hosts aren't being booted when they get stuck.
