Teams, you're down by 21.5, this is the 5th hand in the final match of 16 boards and the previous 4 were good (you outbid them in competition and made, they went down when they outbid you, you doubled them for only one down in 4 Spades when they competed over your 4 which was going down, and they missed a Vulnerable game).

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Easy pass noting some players wouldn't even overcall with this hand.

Your agreements on the strength of the 3 bid? I'd pass if 3 shows 0-7, and bid if it shows 8-11. For the more likely treatments somewhere in between, I'm not sure. It might also depend on whether South would bid 2 with three spades and scattered values.

It comes down to how likely partner is likely to have 3 out of the 5 useful cards (A, A, AK, a fourth heart), plus the outside chance partner has a spade singleton.

If spades had been raised by my lho I would shoot game and if my pard had raised via a 2 cue bid I would make a try with 3. On this auction, I hope to make 3.

Thinking about this a little more...

I agree with ggwhiz if we have good players at the table. But I'm a little worried OP is in the position where LHO doesn't know to auto-raise on 3 and CHO doesn't know about the 2 raise.

I don't have enough for 2, does partner reopen 1?
