IMPs (teams), vul vs nvul

(We don't have a bid to show a 2-suiter - in one bid. 2 direct would have been a good hand with & )
- Do you agree with Pass over 4?
- What now?
(bidding of opps is sometimes strange: 4 does not necessarily promise a distributional hand)

I don't like redouble, so I shall face the dummy after the opening lead.

If this goes a million off I shall blame p. I will double 5H.

Easy redouble in my view. Yes, it may go down one due to bad breaks, but it may also make an overtrick. Looks like RHO gambled with 3-card support and invitational values, he thought he won since our side bid on, but in fact he lost since he caught his partner opened with a minimal heart-club two-suited hand.
Meanwhile, if they run, they will be in big trouble on spade/diamond forces.

N-S hands were:
IMPs (teams), vul vs nvul

(We don't have a bid to show a 2-suiter - in one bid. 2 direct would have been a good hand with & )

I passed: 5DX+1
At the other table the opps played 6DX=, that was a bad result for us.
A good player at the club said that RDBL with my hand is clear.
But maybe this will push the opps to 6C (Probably not)?
Is RDBL that obvious or is it better to take the 5DX score?

As West I would bid over the redouble at the speed of light. The real action is at the other table.

Perhaps your opps took the phantom dive over your pards 6 bid and got enormously lucky?

I would have redoubled. It appears that any save would be very expensive, even if it turns out not to be the case in clubs. In hearts, we will get a good number.

when I first looked at this hand I was wondering if 7 was possible and decided that
maybe some disgression is necessary and I should stop in 6d. The question then
becomes is it better to xx 5d??? since I have a great fallback position of 6d if the opps
proceed to 6c and feel pretty good about my chances of badly hurting 6h if the opps
venture there

xx

looks very reasonable. This requires some trust in partners unfavorable bidding but
considering I could have nothing for them I have a huge hand.

xx is clear imo.

I would personally ignore people who says they would run from xx in a lightning speed, after seeing 4 hands. Even if they did that would not be club suit in this auction, and even if W tried to run to clubs, i doubt that E would take it as natural 2nd suit to play but a lead directing bid. Especially after finding a major fit, 1M-4M kinda support which usually suggests a very good support. But hey, after 1M-4M there might be still people who wants to use bids in competition as an alternative suit suggestion, lol. Look at the E hand which bid 4, that shows this pair can bid 1M-4M in a competitive auction with tons of defensive values, thus why would even W think of running from xx ? Is it because this time it is right to do so having seen all 4 hands ? .

You have values to protect by xx vs a pd who bid by himself at red vs white, at 5 level, we were thinking of slam had opps did not double. Even if you can not bid slam yourself if they bid on, may be your pd can, having heard your XX.
