Opening weak 2 with 6-5 is one of my pet peeves, I think it is an awful mistake. 6-6 is just ridiculous.
I do it. It tends to be ok unless it goes all pass (and maybe then). I'll take another call given a chance and have agreements to do this flexibly.
Though admittedly, it does feel silly to open 2

I think the main issue here is that the east hands was too strong for 2
♠. 1
♠ and then the minimum number of hearts at each turn is probably better.
My partner and I have a rule that we never pass with anything this interesting.
