Who cares whether this is a club for novices or advanced players? How many different interpretations are there to 1♣-p-2nt? It's either forcing or it's invitational. Regardless of the meaning of the bid, if it goes 1♣-1grapefruit - if an opp asks then he's entitled to a response.

This thread is not about a club, this is about responsibility of players toward one another.

My take on this is that any reasonable person would accept that "to play" is synonymous with "natural". I agree that perhaps the phrase "invitational" would have been a more appropriate explanation, but I see NO reason whatsoever why a high card count should need to be give. Not all players use the badly flawed Milton Work count, nor should this be a requirement on order to play Bridge, either ftf or online. I totally disagree with the earlier assertion made by Free.

I would suspect that Arrows' opponents were litigious bush lawyers, though I concede that Arrows could certainly have handled the situation with greater tact and diplomacy.

All in all this is an unfortunate situation which could easily have been avoided with a modicum of common sense by all the parties involved.

Yes, ABALUCY is an advanced players club. We are and are proud to have players from many different countries and a lot of people have different understandings of different systems.

All ABALUCY members are expected to be acquainted with our Club Rules and Regulations, as explained in our Tourney Conditions of Contest, and also at www.abalucybridgeclub.com which has our ALERT Procedures, FRECT and ZERO TOLERANCE Policies, and CONVENTION CHART.

Each Pair should announce a brief explanation of system approach, carding and leads at the beginning of EVERY round . Pairs are also encouraged to have a posted CC.

These things are announced at the beginning of every tourney and every member accepts these conditions when they join the Club. I would list them all here but that would be silly. Our members are well- acquainted with them and they are oublished on our website.

What happened in this instance simply does not meet the responsibilty this member agreed to in exchange for the privilege of playing in our games. The player was once before suspended from the Club - and is very well aware of the Rules and Regulations, did not respond to an inquiry, was rude to an opponent, was non-responsive to our TD and finally made a threat to the Club Manager.

Whether is be Abalucy, BIL, Mirjim, or the main bridge room - is it really such a bad thing to respond to an inquiry of the opponents during the bidding?

I remember when players used to dress up on Saturday nights and the ACBL Tourney Directors wore tuxedos. (Miss you a lot Max Hardy) Is civility and kindness so far beyond the concept of competitiveness of online bridge?

I assume "the player" refers to me. Correct me if i am wrong.

received any form of information(email, messenge, or talk at bbo, whatever)
that telling me I was suspended. Yeah, I can imagine that I was suspended
in a "secret" manner.

The only thing I remember is that there was an incidence earlier.

I was playing an ACBL BBO tourney and you (Abalucy and Abadaba, whoever
it was)was happened to be the director. I played with a pick up partner and in one
hand, our opps had a bad result because (they thought) I opened a 14 count
1NT, and they are trying to make an issue on me.

You came to the table, and without even give my partner (not mention me)
an chance to explain anything, you just take opps' word and believe we
attituded at the table, force we appologize. My partner, who just wanna to play
on, did. but I refused this nonsense. you then kicked me out and threaten
will inform ACBL for the zero-tolerance violation. Later, you put me back because
my partner insist that I was polite and did nothing wrong.

I was very upset and write a post here to explain the whole issue,
many people here would remember it. That post was then deleted by
whoever in charge here for it might contradict to the policy of this forum.

Later, you saw me at bbo and seems wanna have a talk, I said ok, but you never
contact me again. Whatever you wanted to say to me, I decided to let it go.....

I hate to bring this up, but you claim I was suspended for ethical reason, things
are getting serious. I have to tell the whole story to let people have a better idea
of what had happened.....

This thread has turned less than civil. I have shut it down. It may not be reopened elsewhere on these forums, and I will move it out of the public area in a few hours.

In retrospect, I should have shut this down when I noticed Arrow's first post.
One always has hope that *this time* it isnt someone just yelling in public, and one is usually wrong.

It is always interesting to see a heated debate with our senior posters coming down on both sides of the issue, and I'm sorry this one ended the way it did.
