♥9 cause i can see no hope other than partner having 5 to the king... his play of the 4 showed 5 cards (i'm hoping), but that means rho bid 3nt with Jx in hearts? doesn't seem possible... i'm sticking with the 9

I can see a hope of partner having AKQ long in clubs, but I am happy if I can get rid of dumy's entrty quick anyway, so more ♥.

Yup; heart continuation works best; pard did have the stiff J♦. A spade is death, and a club accomplishes nothing.
And a heart can strike gold, especially if declarer is hiding the ♥2.
I continued the heart, which held declarer to 9 tricks. We got all of a 35% board for this nice defense
.
And Jimmy; no reason for the ♥9; what if you hit pard with JT4?

This is unlikely. IF pd is short in D and H, he may do sth about spade. Furthermore with JTx, he should throw J if playing udca.

Perhaps, but whats the point of leading the 9? It gives the wrong count and might blow a trick.

Thought you might have been but you can unload the 9 on the 3rd round just as easy. Further; if you are worried about pard having K8xxx, the J or 10 would have already fallen on right.
