Practicing yesterday with my GNT partner in a club game the opponents bid:

1 - 1
2 - 2

Partner leads a trump and dummy showers down with:

QJT8x
632
AKJ92
T87

As I'm quietly disdaining how bad my opponents are by bidding only 2 on an 11 count, the dummy looks odd.

I pipe up, "Wait, dummy has like 14 cards"
My partner says, "No, 15" (he can't count either).

Declarer wakes up and says, "what, I only have 10 (she can count, but didn't soon enough)".

The director is called and play stops. She sighs and says, "ANOTHER fouled board" (apparently this is common in this club). I suggested she should use the fouled board procedure, and keep the 16/10 EW hands in the board for the rest of the day and that play should continue. She sort of looks at me funny.

A few minutes she came back later and said, "I don't know what to do but I'm just going to give AVE+ to both pairs. She asks me if thats OK, and I just said, "you're the director".

With the extra time left on the clock, the player with 15 cards and 11 points tells me about a hand where they got "fixed by a bad pair that raised her partner's 1 opening to 2 and got to a cold slam".

Just then the director announced a break round and set out cookies, so I politely left the table.
Hi y'all!

There must be some high scores at that club.

I believe their underbidding is explained by RHO adding distributional points for shortness and LHO adding points for length.

Interesting club. The players can't count, and the director can't read.

That's a lot of karma you earned in one sentence.
