Expert partner, no special agreement about support doubles.
♠AK63
♥KQ5
♦6
♣KQ1085
1♣ - pass - 1♥ - 1♠
???
What is a typical hand for bidding:
- Dbl
- 1NT
- 2S
- 2NT

Whether or not pard plays support double, double stands out as the easier bid, IMO.

1NT looks nice, stregnth right, spades stoppers great, but did you notice the singleton in the unbid suit? Just curious if you did. Despite this, among the choices I like 1NT best.
2♥? Cough.. really, that is a huge underbid.
2NT - nope.
2♠ - about right on stregnth, and you can make a move back towards hearts next, not exactly sure how you will choose between 3NT/4♥/3♥ however.
So the only people with a clear cut bid here are those who play support doubles. They can double then show extra values, perhaps by bidding 2NT over 2♥. One bid not mentioned is pass. It is hard to pass with support and good hand, but here that option is alive due to your long spades, parnter is very likely to reopen as he rates to be short in spades.
Anyway, tough hand for non-support doublers. I would go with 1Nt.

Ben, I think 1N is a huge underbid,it only shows good 13-14HCP.

Responder might have bid 1H with 5 points. Bidding a 1NT now should promise a bit more than a min:
1C pass 1H 1S
pass = bal or unbal 11-13 points
1C pass 1H 1S
1NT = bal 14, or unbal 14-16 without a better bid
It is a better usage of steps to split points this way.

good 17 is quite different from 13,14. I would much prefer 2N rather than 1N. This just distort my hand too much.

Agree with Justin !
I don't understand 1NT here. If you want to bid NT then bid 2NT !
