Seriously, I'd win the first heart and lead a spade to my hand to play a diamond up. So that's probably the only way to go down ...

You had to be careful here, or you could go down!

LHO had 2506 and RHO 2461, playing a diamond prematurelly gets you down if you didn't draw any trumps or get rid of heart comunication. If you did, you also had to be careful and avoid covering 10 on second round of the suit, scoring KQ on the end.

Perhaps I've missed something, but if I carelessly play A then J, I can't see why I would go down in 4.

If RHO withholds his ace and LHO takes two ruffs, they can't draw any of my trumps, so I make nine trumps and a heart. If they take A and one ruff, then play back a trump, I get eight trumps, a diamond and a ruff.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
