2 or 3 rounds already palyed, you are defending, opps lead small card into J K holding, which card do you play if you are both silent and have no idea what to expect your p to have and the bidding was not that informative i.e 1nt 3nt or 1nt 4nt 6 nt or what ever other bidding you can imagine that leaves very few clues

If they lead a card into my KJ holding, I will play whichever of the K or J wins the trick. If on the other hand they play a card through my KJ holding, (which is what I think you mean), I try to visualise the opponents hands which will give me a play for the contract and which is consistent with the bidding and play to date and play accordingly.

Or do you mean the KJ is in the closed hand?

This is a classic situation where it pays to know your customers.

Poor players rarely underlead Aces through declarer and if they underlead an Ace through dummy's KJ they typically steal a glance at their partner in ftf bridge or try to look innocent.
