I love the way East thinks (simulates) it get a spade trick holding 4 of them (so lucky to be right this time). At least North (GIB) understands that 5H is to play.

Agreed. It is a recurring theme that GIB ignores the fact that you previously passed when you make a competitive bid.

There is a fault in the GIB DD solver- the 5 contract is solid since once Hearts are eliminated South can always run the diamonds to eliminate all losers in North's hand.

5H might be solid, but 6 isn't :)
