I'm free whenever on the 12th
I would, however, like to understand the lineups and who/what we'll be competing against
more specifically, I want time to develop defenses...
Oh, I am sure with just alerts at the table, you will be able to handle any artificial bids the oppenents throw at you that you have never heard of before. hehehehehe
Maybe they will suggest some recommended defenses for you. :-)
Might be able with a regular partner, however, Free and I play together once a week.
If The_hog were playing, I'd have more confidence [He and I play VERY rarely, but seem in synch a lot of the time]
more importantly, I don't that watching a bunch of people flail arround with constant bidding misunderstandings makes ofr interesting bridge

I was talking about everyone quite frankly
As for suggested defenses, I've always felt that it was assine that people need to provide defenses to their own openings.
1. Players often have blind spots regarding flaws with their pet methods
2. Players have little/no incentive to develop good defenses
Either way, you aren't going to get what you want. I'll note in passing that in Sweden, the National Bridge Organization prepares dictionaries of suggested defenses to a wide variety of methods which they make freely available to all members...
With this said and done
I recommend keeping it very simple versus the transfer opening.
For example, over the 1♥ opening, I'd recommend:
X = "Standard" 1♥ overcall
1♠ = However you normally treat a Takeout Double of a canape style 1♠ opeing
1NT+ = As if we had opened 1♠
You really need a good defense versus the 2♦ and 2♥ openings
Over 2♦ I'd recommend some like the following:
(2♦) - 4♦ = 5+ Hearts and 5+ Spades
(2♦) - 4♣ = 5+ Clubs, 5+ in either major, game forcing values
(2♦) - 3NT = To play, typically based on a running suit
(2♦) - 3♠ = 17-19 HCP, strong 6 card suit
(2♦) - 3♥ = 17-19 HCP, strong 6 card suit
(2♦) - 3♦ = 17+ HCP, weak in Diamonds, treat as a takeout double
(2♦) - 3♣ = 5+ CLubs, ~ 12-16 HCP
(2♦) - 2NT = 5+ Hearts, ~ 12-16 HCP
(2♦) - 2♠ = 5+ Spades, ~ 12-16 HCP
(2♦) - 2♥ = Takeout double of Diamonds, ~ 12-16 HCP
(2♦) - X = 15+ HCP, balanced or semi balanced
Hxx, AQ, AK or any 4 Diamonds
With significant extra strength, may hold xxx in Diamonds
Double establishes a forcing pass at the 2 level
Double followed by 2♠/2NT/3♣ do not promise extras
Double followed by 3♦+ promises extras
(2♦) - X - (2♥) - X = Penalty oriented, usually at least Hxx in Hearts
(2♦) - X - (2♥) - P - (P) - 2♠ = 4+ Spades, 15-17 HCP
(2♦) - X - (2♥) - P - (P) - 2NT = 15-17 Balanced, can't penalize them
(2♦) - X - (P - 2NT = Puppet to 3♣

11am PST (Los Angeles)
2pm EST (New York)
7pm GMT (London)
8pm CET (Berlin)
9pm EET (Athens)
Can I assume that time and I hope everyone will be there. Maybe a few volunteer subs (now wouldn't that be exciting?)

1c=16+ if flat, 17+ w/ major, or 18+ if minor-cntrl responses
1d/h/s= 2 suited hand, guaranteed canape unless clubs 2nd suit
1nt=12-15, 2c response is invitational puppet..2d is game force stayman
2c=3 suited, 11-16 (any 3 suits)
2d/h/s=one suited, 11-17, 6+
2nt=6+ clubs, 14-17
3c=6+ clubs, 11-14
after a 1 opening, the next highest bid is a relay looking for 2nd suit... it is not forcing

The match went off as planned, with some delays due to last minute cancellations of some participants.
We had two tables with a mixture of Precision, Forcing Pass, some strong Diamond System, and MOSCITO. At times there were about 10-12 people watching

Hehehe, isn't my defense vs strong ♣/♦ great?
Btw, yesterday we used that same defense against nebulous 1♣ and 1♦ openings, without any problems! I think I'll continue this experiment for a while...
