Do you agree with the bidding so far? Now what?

I would double 1. The opponents could be in big trouble here and I don't want to let them off the hook. I certainly have extras for the first double, and remember that the hand will play badly for them in everything since partner has their heart suit totally covered. Also remember that partner doesn't have to pass the double of 1 if it doesn't suit him.

Yes, agree. But now that you have bid 2C for some unknown reason, you seem to have found a diamond fit. Time to stop bidding. The double of 1S recommended by lalldonn might have better uncovered the strength of partner's hand, but now we just have to guess whether he is running to diamonds from fright or has some cards.

Ditto on the double of 1. Partner has s and with shortness. My best next move seems to be a 2 Q-bid intended as a fit showing game force. Then let the bidding evolve...5-losers and 17-18 SPs should make partner happy. I expect partner has 11 HCP - some in might not be working. I will raise 3 to 5.

The best chance of game is probably in NT, and we may have it. Partner's pass has shown some values, or a ridiculous number of . Also, responder does not have a responding hand and opener had nothing to say over the X, nor could find a raise or anything else over 2, all of which suggests some good values with partner. If not game, 2NT should score better than 2 at MPs. I'd try 2NT now, and at teams maybe 3NT if I was afraid of partner passing. Also agree about X rather than 2.

If you double 1 partner will bid 2 or 3

I agree with everything except the idea that we have a game.

Partner could cue-bid, bid 2nt themselves or jump to 3 with forward going hands.

3 is plenty with these cards but I would pass expecting a lot of wasted values and a diamond suit that doesn't split.

I would also rip 1S. And if pard bids 3D over this, I will be real, real excited.

Yep, that's one really good thing about doubling 1S. There is a big difference between partner bidding 2 and 3. But, when you have bid 2C instead of doubling, there will be doubt in partner's mind whether you even have diamonds at all and a 3 bid by him is not likely to occur ---putting a big burden on 2 as to length and strength.

X/1 would have got us on the right track, hopefully next time I will make the right bid.

passing 2d is way worse than not cracking 1s imo. you've a lot of extras for your original x

What do you bid?

Given the actual auction, I think doubler has to bid 3 over the 2 bid. The hand hasn't decreased in value because of anything the opponents have bid. Opener hasn't redoubled to show extras, so partner rates to have values.

Over the 1 bid, I think a DBL is better than 2 .
