What is my bid over 2 in GIB? It seems both 2,3, and 4 are natural bids and if I bid 2 it thinks I have 5 and insists that hearts are trumps.

Don't start that way- bid 2 over 1.

That denies a 4-card major, so you could easily miss a heart fit. 1 is the correct first bid.

If you bid 4 over 2, GIB will just bid 5.

I would probably bid Blackwood, GIB will show his one ace, and we'll play 6. It's a 50% slam (it just needs the finesse), so not a bad contract, but it doesn't make this time.

GIB would bid 3NT with the South hand!

If 2 diamonds is a forcing bid with diamonds, why can't 3 diamonds or 4 diamonds be a splinter?

One of them probably should be. It looks like GIB's bidding database doesn't have second-round splinters in it, so it thinks all of these are natural.

I agree as you don't really need so many different natural diamonds bids that 3 or 4 being used as a splinter would probably be more useful.
