Can someone please me how Reputations are derived? They seem to be quantitative in nature ?

Reputations What do they mean?

number of +1's you get on all your posts. So basically meaningless. The user rating actually means something because people can give you a bad rating (as opposed to reputation where you can't get -1)

In
"ACBL see something called Platinum pts....
In general if you win a nat rated event you are really good.
\If you win many of them you are great.

Outside of USA there are roughly 20-30 wc events per year.
If you win one you are really good.
If you win many you are great.
Please keep in mind out of roughly onemillion bridge players we are talking a small sample.
The vast, vast majority of us enjoy talking, debating, playing bridge and we pay/support and love it.

Thanks for the info. I take it upvotes and downvotes apply to the user rating? Does this go on all the time or are they updated periodically?

Now that you've made it clear you were asking about forum reputations, not bridge reputations in general, I've moved this out of Water Cooler. The description of WC is "Non-Bridge or BBO related discussions"

I think the reputation updates are immediate, as I don't see an entry for it in the board's list of periodic tasks.
We don't currently allow downvoting (we experimented with it for a while last year), so your reputation can only increase, not decrease.

No, user rating is a 5 star rating on the persons profile. It is in the top right, and each other person can give them a rating out of 5 stars. It has nothing to do with "reputation".
