For better or worse, you landed in 4S, lead is a 3 which East plays the 8 (or ace if you hop king)

Should you attempt to draw trumps

Ok, giving it a go.

Ruff heart, Play ace of spades(noting jack drop) finesse queen, run 3. If lho doesn't ruff in, lead 10 of diamonds to queen, finessing jack if I don't see an honor.

I don't much mind if rho gets in, he really can't lead a heart, the only thing that can tap my trump enough to have me lose control, if he does lead a small heart, I let it run to king. If he leads ace, I ruff, I am essentially playing nt now and just push out the last diamond honor.

In the more likely case that lho goes up with the king of diamonds and leads a heart, I ruff and play diamonds for 3-2(unless lho showed out of clubs early, which should give me perfect count of hand and inform the continued diamond finesse) by leading to queen and then run diamonds until lho gets bored and ruffs in. Should lose 2 spades and king of diamonds.

If I lose the spade finesse to qj tight in rho, the hand is trivial to make with a 3-2 spade break, especially when rho is stuck on lead.

I'm going to play LHO for DK. I'd lead a diamond towards dummy at trick two. I plan to lose one diamond and at most two spades, or possibly two diamonds and one spade.

Suppose that LHO wins K and forces me again. I cash A and play Q. If that holds, I play another diamond; someone ruffs and forces me again, but I cash K and play winners.

They can't hurt me by ruffing the second diamond - I just win whatever they return and cash K.

If it turns out that RHO has K, I'm going to need trumps coming in for one loser, or J onside. Win the club return and cash K. If no honour drops play a spade to the ace and then play diamonds. If a spade honour drops offside, play two more rounds of diamonds, then later use the diamonds to deal with dummy's hearts and LHO's trumps.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
