If I were to double now, GIB explains it as showing lots of points in clubs. I would like to suggest that a support double for hearts may be a more useful meaning.

Yeh, support double seems more reasonable and useful than the GIB choice.
Another option, since we are likely to be defending a spade contract with partner on lead, would be for double to show some (5+) club length but a weak suit warning partner against leading clubs with (say) Hx...a lead of hearts or diamonds would probably be more successful.
