The easiest way is to explain it here or in non-natural (depending on what kind of system it would apply to), and if it already exists I'm pretty sure someone on the forum will recognize it. If it's new and has some logic in it, then people will help you and give you even more ideas to work out that convention in detail.

However, you should also be prepared for the inevitable criticism that it will likely receive. Be sure to thicken your skin before posting.
