Several times now-and missunderstanding abound--pard opens 1 major {5 cards)
some pards require 4 card help-some 3 card support -however,one has both requirements
and a good hand-when next opp o/calls 2 minor-and have experienced that i have in "excess"
but as an example a useless xx in the overcall.what is available?
x----2n/t?---cue bid?--bash with 4 of pards suit?-4n/t ace ask?-bid your lowest 4 card suit?
any comments please

You might find it helpful to look up "unassuming cue bid" (ucb) for this situation. There are (many) more ideas in Robson-Segal available free online. This is an area where there are plenty of options depending on how many artificial bids you are willing to take into your system. For a good intermediate or higher pick-up partner it is probably ok to assume that they will understand a ucb; the other possibilities you need to have an explicit agreement for unless some kind of expert standard is assumed.
