How do I look for NT game?

After GIB's 3♣ bid, I wanted to show my spade stopper so North could bid 3NT with a heart stopper. But when I moused over 3♥ and 3♠, they both showed 5-5 minors.

Luckily I was able to sqeeze east in the majors.
