If double followed by 3H is forcing then I'd do that. Even though you didn't tell us the colors, I think it's good if partner passes.

If double followed by 3H is NF (more common I think) then I'd bid 3H. This of course gives up on playing 3C doubled but if partner rebids 3D over my double I'm a bit stuck.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

i hate these incomplete problems that require
multiple answers.

if nvul/vul I X (especially at MP)

Otherwise

there is too much slam potential here to risk p
passing 3cx with some min hand like

Qx xx KQxxxx Axx so I choose

3H

which leaves all other possibilites open

I think that the players in question can be assumed not to be playing NFBs, for then the question would be what do you bid over 5 (passed round to you after you doubled).

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I will just treat this as a 4431 distribution. I would rather imply 11 cards (4, 4, 3) simultaneously in one double than show 5.5 hearts when I have only 5.

That seems like really convoluted reasoning

Yes, a very good idea.
How will your partner understand this double ?
