I don't know where to begin. OK, inverted minor is reasonable. I show second suit (spades). Guaranteed that I have as many (or more) diamonds as I do spades. Bot, with 5 diamonds and a doubleton spade raises the spades to game! So, is this a bug or are there times when a 4-2 major fit is preferred over a 5-4 minor fit?
Inexplicable Bot Bid? You decide...

The much more correct bid here according to GIB possesses is 4♣ - Cue bid -- 4+ D; 3- H; 3- S; 8+ 8421 HCP in C; 16+ total points; forcing to 4H
With not so many values could use 4♦ - -- 4+ D; 3- H; 3- S; 10+ HCP
It will be investigated for fix.

The bug is surely that 3♠ is described as "4 D; 4+ S", it should be "4+ D; 4 S".

Cue bid, 4 card suit. Reverse?
Looks like only makeable game is 3NT by north, regardless of what south bids how do we get there!
We only have three choices pass double 3♠
Or we can just bid 3NT and hope we can guess which black king is with west
I guess 5diamonds can make but same problem with black kings.....so yes a bug by GIB, but maybe fatal error by south

from GIBs point of view where are souths points to open the bidding?
if south AKJX ♠A♥ 4♠ has a potential to make, but if were gonna play partner for Ax♥ might as well bid 3NT.
Likewise its probably best for south to just bid 3NT and go on brute points and ♦fit, it seems some times GIB likes to cue bid
when he should just bid 3NT and have lead come into his hand, on this hand I guess you just have to do it yourself.....heck alot of players would
just bid 3NT on norths card over 1♦ opening
so yes were quibbling over where there should be a + or = on the 3♠ bid but ......

Out of question for North to rebid 3NT over 3♠ imagining South having ♥K109 or so.
Let be practical. 1♦-Pass-3NT with 14HCP is ok, but not with these controls and good shape hand.
The auction seems quite normal up to 4♠ by North.

Yes but auctions come up like this all the time with bid, usually along the lines where gib cue bids opps suit with AQX instead of bidding 3NT.......so if we pass 3♥ will that imply heart stopper?...now putting it back onto North?
There are alot of instances we have to bid 3NT on were holdings than Ax

its matchpoints
the hand was played 8 times
3NT-5 times
3♥x-1 time
4♠-1 time
5♦-1 time
How did they get where they got
2 souths opened 1NT on 14 HCP
2 souths made forcing passes and north bid 3NT on JXX
1 south bid 3NT on AX
1 south X 3♥ beat it one trick could be beaten 2 for plus 300
1 south bid 3♠ over 3♥ pre empt and got to 4♠
1 south opened 1♣ and got to 5♦
results:
+460-1 100%
+430-3 72%
+400-0
+300-0
+150-0
+130-0
+100-1 43%
-050-2 21%
-100-1 0%
My mine point on the bidding for this hand this is the world of matchpoints....and GIB even though it can be programmed to bid differently for each...sometimes you have to guide GIB to make the appropriate call and its not always easy...granted this is a small statistical analysis...maybe we can get inquiry (Ben) to have this hand put into a larger
contest and see what sort of results we get....at matchpoints the proper bid is not always the easiest under pressure.
