GIB North's hand:

Bidding at my table:

Bidding at two other tables:

I find this absolutely symptomatic of GIB's bidding. 2 is ridiculous, but it found a rule that matched, and there are no general principles in place to override it. And why would GIB suddenly push up another level when partner has passed, but pass when partner has shown support?

I am rather frustrated with the level of effort BBO seems to be willing to put into GIB's bidding.

As it happened, 5 was barely makeable on a miracle crossruff, and I got exactly 0% on this board. These kinds of random swing don't exactly make playing robot rebate or robot duplicate more enjoyable.

Because it doesn't have a concept of pushing up one more level, you reject clubs so obviously you have hearts according to DD.

I agree absolutely rediculous bidding clubs before hearts- clearly its 2 and if you don't raise hearts, 4 if it had a better system then 4NT as two lower suits is better.

Some of the basic bidding principles are missing in gib's system. Usually, players should bid their longest suit first if possible and bid their side suit in the next round if there is one (unless he can try NT or waiting bids, or showing the second suit is too expensive, or they have found a major 8 card fit). This explains many of gib's bidding failures. Of course, the programmer doesn't care cause he might not play much gib for money as most do in this forum.
