After 0.02 secs thinking, I play the ♠Q and a diamond to the queen. How bad am I doing?

That's how I started at the table, LHO wins, cashes the ♥A and plays a small heart.

passive lead seems to suggest that our suits are unlikely to come in. The defence would probably favour an aggressive lead if lho had no Kd. The would probably also favour a heart lead if he had 4 spades and wanted to set up a force. SUspect therefore that spades 3-3 and kd offside, though its already feels like i have read a lot into this lead.

unfortuneately, I have no idea how to make this if that is the layout. I think you should probably just play for 3-3 spades and Q c in the slot. Even if this loses to the Q i will still have play as long as spades 3-3. Why finesse the JC rather than the KC? Just feel that lho likely to attack if his holding was Axx under dummies long suit. with a known 4-3 fit you would attack if there was any danger of a long suit coming in. At least, I would. also he had a chance to overcall 1h and did not, so some hands with kd and Ac are excluded.

Now I want to play a diamond to the ace and a club to the ten. The alternative is to overtake a spade honour. I may be influenced by playing too much against defenders who would never hold up ♣Q. But dunno what else I could do.

There is another alternative; play the K (or J) of C. It is hard to evaluate the risk of opening up a diamond tap of dummy or to simply go for setting up clubs.

feels like i am virtually cold now if i play another big club off dummy. I would put spades 3-3 as a big favourite now.

The cards are lying pretty nicely for you. However, if you played a diamond to the Queen as I did, a trump lead beats you. Once the gib sitting West led the ♥A all was well.
