How should it be bid ?
Partner had all 3 cards to make 7.... I was just hoping he had 2 of them for 6.

A lot of ideas come to mind.

First, Opener might redouble 3 to show first-round control. Then, Responder can bid 3 to set that as trumps, if committing to slam exploration (and hence not that concerned about missing a spade game -- Opener has at most two spades anyway, assuming that the failure to double 1NT was anti-support). Opener can now cue 3 for the heart control.

That's probably enough to kick into RKCB, hopefully 4 (or even 4). After 4 Kickback, for example, Opener shows two with the Queen, which covers all diamond and non-spade losers, with at most one spade loser. The answer being 5, 5 presumably asks for specific Kings, and Opener's 5 reply seals the 7 deal.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Yes, a DBL of the Sandwich would have shown 3 card -support.

Nice auction, Ken .

I recomend you use my gadget in competition the GGGP (Gonzalo's Great Game Performance)

--1D
1S-(1NT)-X!-(2C) (balanced hand)
2H!-3C (Asking bid - 2353)
3D!-4H (Aces?-HA+CA)
4NT!-5D (Spades?-The King)
7D

So you got to a small slam on 25 hcp in the middle of some competitive action by opps. You should be proud, not sad :)

The improvement I can see is bidding 4 instead of 6. It wouldn't put you automatically in 7, but it's a good way to try. But really, 7's not easy to bid.

A simple splinter plus kickback:
1D p 1S 1N
p 2C 4C(shortness) x
4H(RKC) p 5S(3 or 0 KC, void in C) p
6C(cue for SK) 7D
