tearing my hair out playing Bingo! I love Bingo and do quite well but it's so hard to stop in partscores.
Usually end up needing say 3H so start preempting with 4 card suit and 17 points, but GIB always wants to raise to game with about 8 points!
Surely you would never raise with 2 soft tricks, so I think it's a real problem with the program.

that's part of the challenge - to trick the GIB to stay in the contract you need :)

You'd have to show us the hand for us to determine whether GIB did anything wrong.

I think GIB thinks LOTT,and wants to preempt too. It's playing duplicate, not total points!

I try to avoid the 3S or 3H lines whenever I see them. If you insist on going for those lines, try to appear weaker and steer creatively.

Edit : Just learnt bidding, GIB does keep scoring methods in mind when bidding.

Yes it's best to avoid lines with 3H or 3S but there are never those perfect lines with all games and one 1 level contract. always a partscore somewhere and that's the trick.
BUT if you make a limit raise needing that elusive 3H/S partner always goes 4 with a 12 count!

BTW I love Bingo. I hope GIB is thick-skinned because I call it some pretty nasty names.

I have been taking note of GIB behaviour since my last post and it's true. If GIB opens 1 major and you make a limit raise, it always goes to game, even with a 12 count.
I think this spoils the fun because it becomes a matter of luck, hoping GIB will open 2S and you can raise to 3 or hoping it will preempt.
Someone said you can avoid the lines with 3major. that's pretty rare.
I think robot reward is a bit of a lottery with this flaw. I have made a limit raise with 18 points and still seen the robot go to game!

GIB is certainly very aggressive about bidding games. I think it goes to game on about 90% of my game tries. Any time it has 4-card support, it accepts. If you make a short-suit game try, it hardly ever asks where the shortness is, it just bids game.

But in the case of limit raises, does it do that if you make a 3-card limit raise by going through forcing NT?
