Who needs to bid further?

South, already a passed hand, figures that he has shown his strength and shape. If partner wants to go slamming, it's up to him.

North, with this behemoth, loves his hand after the splinter, so Q-bids the ♥ control. The only card he wants to hear about is the
♣A, (or so he said).

Should South bid 5♣, showing 1st round control, or is it North's responsibility to Bid 4NT RKCB?

Small slam is still nearly cold if South's ace were the Q of clubs, giving south Kxxx Kxxx x Qxxx which is hardly enough to splinter, so I think North passing four spades is completely nuts.

South committed them to game with his first bid and north cooperated so South must go on but its really partnership agreement and anyway 4D splinter is silly with a 3rd/4th opening
any three level nonspade suit bid surely should be a splinter- what else can it mean.

Well, in many of my partnerships P-1S; 3D would be a fit jump. I don't like the splinter here because we routinely open some questionable 1♠ in 3rd seat, so I'd just bid whatever flavor of Drury we've agreed on, and I'll accept pretty much any game try from P that doesnt show a concentration of values in diamonds.

I'm having a hard time believing my eyes aren't deceiving me. South splintered in support of spades, and North passed 4♠? North is a jack away from a 2♣ opening bid, and he passed 4♠?

Who was North, Glenn Beck?
