Uninteresting hand I guess, partner has ♥Kx and a 4 card minor, so if you pick the "right" minor right now you won't be able to win slam on that strain.

You might lure partner into bidding 6NT, but since he also has ♠AKQJx he might just as well bid 6♠ wich fails miserably.

Looks like you need to double, and when partner bids 2♠, bid 3♥ which will cause him to bid 3N, then you can bid something, ask for aces and put him back into NT.

I've held a 4 loser hand and heard partner open 2♣. My hand was x, A, AKxxx, Axxxxx, partner had AKQ10xxxx, KQ10x, x, void, we bid 2♣-3♣-4♠-7N. If they lead a spade you have to pitch A♥.

After
1♠ (2♥) 3♣
3♠

is 4♦ natural or a cuebid for spades?

3♦ here. If pard now bids

3NT: I'll probably pass.
3♠: I'll try 4♣. Then pass 4♠.

I just thought of something terrifyingly creative. What about cuebidding 3♥, then bidding 5♠ to ask for a ♥ control?

If partner doesn't have a heart control, they are very likely to have solid spades... It might work. I'd never try this at the table, but it's an interesting idea on paper.

As it is, partner would bid 5N over 5♠ to show a positional heart card, and we'd happily raise to 6.

If partner bids 6♠, we have to guess whether it's a stiff or the ace, which is why this is a bad idea, but an intriguing one nonetheless. Perhaps we could use OS5NT someplace :P

This would work great if partner bids 6♠ or, even better, 6♥ to show the ♥A (assuming, of course, that partner has good spades (what else could he have?)).

Of course, if partner doesn't have a heart control, he will pass 5♠. That may not be the best spot. You state that partner is very likely to have solid spades. I agree that he must have very good spades. But AKQxx opposite a void is not that great a suit at the 5 level when you are off 2 heart tricks (Give partner AKQxx QJx xx xxx, or some variation on that theme - AKJxxx QJx xx xx, AKxxxxx QJx x xx, etc.).

That would be very unlucky, but not out of the question.

I once played this guy (a brilliant mathematician, by the way), who insisted on cuebidding with just about anything he felt like. I would then have to guess what he had and act accordingly. It was a nightmare.

Obviously, he always had some argument why his bid couldn't be anything but his actual hand. As you can imagine, we stopped playing at some stage :P

IMHO it's a cuebid, unfortunately. We "can't" have a diamond fit on this auction.

for the record, godzilla passed my 3♣ bid and we surprisingly collected 36% of the match points for +150.

Partner had ♠AKQJx ♥Kx ♦9xxx ♣Jx, the rebid over 3♣ is IMO close between 3♦, 3♠ and 3NT

This is probably why we should play transfers.
1S (2H)

Double: simple S raise.
2S: transfer to NT.
2N: transfer to C.
3C: transfer to D.
3D: S limit raise.
3H: gf raise to S.
3S: constructive raise with 4 or more S.

Forget that. I've tried it and it's not fit for players below professional status.
