being a forum hand it is easy to underlead club, doing that on real life its another story, but since no money involved, I would try :P

I'd lead a heart.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

ha ha me too. Too bad that we bid so much before, otherwise it would be a perfect Q lead in fact :P

at the table I would go for (a possibly generalised variant of) jdonn's law and lead a trump.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Heh, I was going to say that.

I don't think a small is that difficult at the table, the alternatives are not appealing imo.

Why are we trying to be a hero with a club lead? The opponents had just about the weakest possible auction to 4.

In my case this is because I expect dummy to hold 4 spades and provide discards given my poor holding. I want partner in for a diamond through in case LHO is 4432

Trump or spade work. Both minor suit kings are on your right (and partner has the QJ).

Why is partner more likely to hold the K (and to play it at trick one!), or to hold the Q with K on our left and J n our right, than to hold a stopper (A or K or Q9 or...) in the spade suit?

he obviously isn't, he is 100% sure to have spade stopper and 0% to have K from what phil said :).

What I though is that spades could blow a trick as well as clubs, and I didn't expect dummy to have zero club honnors.

I'd lead a trump. Low club might work but I don't see the need for it.
