WHY is it that, FMO, that the GIB seems to play Cappelli (sp?) that I think is a silly convention (NATURAL covercalls on one-suited hands in competition, please.), but NOT play Lebensohl (How am I supposed to bid on hands where I have to make sure I get to 3NT when my GIB partner has a stopper but avoid 3NT like the plague when it doesn't?).

Gib does indeed play Lebensohl over 1 NT (and weak 2's, also). As for Cappelletti, it's just one of a zillion defences against 1 NT - different people prefer different methods, and some may argue that using natural overcalls in its inflexibility is equally silly. Cappelletti is a quite commonly used convention (not a quality in itself, I know.)

Nothing is ever sure in bridge- or Gib-world ;). FMO, the fast route to 3NT after intervention denies a stopper...

Gib's system is found here - there's also a link to a convention card
