I got to 6NT. I received a diamond lead, played a heart to my queen which held, another diamond to dummy and a heartducked to East, who led another diamond, all following. I enter my hand with a club, small cards all around, and then led the A and a high heart, a spade from West and a club from East. I reached:

A9

A98

What then?

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I'd have started by running 7, which picks up Kxx-J10x and costs nothing.

I can't see anything special about the ending you reached - it's just a black-suit squeeze or J coming down, isn't it?
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

If opps have misdefended and LHO started with 4 then we should cash Q next. Unfortunately we can't then recover if RHO started with 5 . So agree with gnasher
  • At trick 2, run 7, picking up RHO's JTx or KJTx
  • Now, A, Q, and hope for the best.

There's no need to cash A yet. You can cash the heart, throwing a spade, and then decide whether to play for the squeeze/club drop or to take the club finesse.

heart to Q won then lets u duck a heart all around. Win the return go to dummy cash the spade A and the dia winners then come back to hand with a club and run the hearts

you will reduce dummy to club Axx and your hand to spade Q and Kx clubs

this position wins whenever clubs 33 or 42 and same player has spade K

The spade ace unblock is called a vienna coupe. Quit bidding such rotten slams and you wont need these types of plays very much (to go along with 33 hearts and a heart finesse) if this makes your slam was around 8% or so.

Nope, we don't have the 6.
