A spade in all four cases. No imagination.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

definitely a heart at mps. Very close between a heart and a spade at imps....the spade 9 sways me to that suit.

My memory is not what it used to be...or it may never have been what I think it was....but, years ago, there was a comment in the BW, in the MSC I think, attributing to someone, who might have been Woolsey, a study of the effectiveness of leads from 4 card suits on these auctions. Memory suggests that he found that leads where the second card was several spots lower than the highest card were very bad. So J8xx would be worse than J9xx.

As Mikeh suggests, for a 4-suit lead to be effective
the top and second best spot need be big.
Must put big card forcing big cards on second round/third.

I would always lead a heart if partner had not passed initially, or at matchpoints.

At IMPS, given partner's pass, prospects don't seem all that promising since they have at least 25 HCP, no suit is breaking badly, and my spot cards are bad. Probably I would still try a heart and hope partner has something good there plus an entry.

1NT -3NT imps mp (i try to avoid leading from Jxxx and AJxx suits if i can, call me supertitious :P ) This auction can be deceptive, someone can have a long minor and i mostly lead agressive in imps.

1NT-2NT-3NT, they are both balanced. % 100 passive and

Never a club nor a diamond.

Against 3N, this looks like a potential ethics problem where partner tanked over 1N - 3N. Judging from the comments, a spade is a LA.

I would always lead a heart and I don't understand those that want to lead a spade in MPs after 1N - 3N. Isn't this the time where we want to avoid blowing a trick? I understand the spade at IMPs, although a club could be right under the same reasoning.
